Decomposition

In this project, I collected partially decomposed foodstuffs from the compost pile I made at the back of the garden during lockdown. I have a background in geology, and I have always loved images of rocks and minerals through a polarising microscope. I wanted to capture the experience of viewing the world in this way by creatively visualising the rich mineralogical changes that are happening in the soil all the time, a process that is often hidden and unknown.
