I recently became interested in the idea of Tarot cards as a way to ask myself questions about geological-philosophical issues related to The Joined Up Geoscience Project. In these cards, I am asking myself questions about how I embody extractivism - the overexploitation of natural resources and their exportation with minimal processing, often leading to significant negative effects for the source countries. Growing up in Scotland, with high reliance on North Sea Oil, I thought it useful to begin to question our (and my) relationship to extractivism. I thought that asking myself questions, arranged and rearranged through Tarot cards, could be a way to open up new associations.
